Woolly Sheep Cafe is located at Danby Lodge, home of the North York Moors National Park Visitor Centre, on the outskirts of the moorland village of Danby, near Whitby.
The Cafe is situated in the oldest part of the former shooting lodge in what was the drawing room and dining room dating from the 17th century.
This charming cafe has a traditional feel with modern touches and offers a wide range of freshly ground coffee, leaf teas and delicious homemade cakes. Light lunches, hot and cold sandwiches and paninis are freshly prepared to order, whilst a daily specials board reflects the seasonal variety from the local area.
At The Woolly Sheep, we place emphasis on the quality of our ingredients; meats are supplied by a local butcher J Wood of Lingdale and breads from a local artisan bakery, Stonehouse Bakery of Danby. Our fresh fruit and vegetables are supplied by Quality Food Service of Teesside.
Our Coffee is supplied by Cafe Vinci and it is imported from an independent roaster in Italy. Produced from the finest washed green beans using Sweet Arabicas from the plateaus of Brazil which impart chocolate and nutty flavours whilst high quality Robustas from Africa and India add body and bring together the aromas, textures, and tastes.
This results in a coffee with a pleasing complexity and which creates a unique product, a smooth blend with a depth of flavour that does not lose the subtle flavour nuances when added to milk.
The Cafe is Wheelchair Accessible and special 'grip' cutlery is available on request.
We also are able to offer meals to guests with special dietary requirements. We can prepare Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten and Dairy Free Meals. Please advise a member of staff of any allergies, intolerances or requirements. Or ask to see our easy to use guide which covers the most common allergens.
We hope you enjoy your visit!
